1       RELEASE NEWS LDM 2.4

LDM 2.4 is the new Release (Minor Version) of the product Lookwise Device Manager. This Release introduces new important features with respect to the previous Minor Version (LDM 2.3), and provides with an automated migration path.

The most significant new features incorporated to Lookwise Device Manager in the Release LDM 2.4 are the following:

** SUPPORT FOR CRITICAL PROCESSES in WHITELISTING **

The Release LDM 2.4 introduces the ability to set some processes as critical in the white list, so they can launch other processes not included on the list or modify protected files.

This new feature allows, for example, a software update or maintenance process external to LDM, to run without disabling the protection.

** NEW REMOTE ACTION FOR 3RD PARTY SOFTWARE DEPLOYMENT **

A new type of Remote Action has been added for the deployment of 3rd party software packages. This new type of action solves the limitation that existed on the size of the software package to be distributed.

** INSTALLATION/UPDATES USABILITY **

This Release incorporates a significant improvement in usability in the process of installing and/or updating LDM on the endpoints, concentrating all logic on a single GUI screen and allowing the installation of multiple functionalities simultaneously. The installation/update process for whitelisting has also been simplified to require a single reboot.

** FULL DISK ENCRYPTION MANAGEMENT USABILITY **

Usability in managing Full Disk Encryption has been improved by adding icons that show the encryption status in the endpoints, and adding the ability to remotely recover the unique encryption password.

** HARDWARE PROTECTION MANAGEMENT USABILITY **

The hardware whitelisting configuration process for Windows XP endpoints has been simplified.

** SECURITY UPDATES **

Several improvements have been implemented in the security architecture of the product, including some reinforcements in the product self-protection and a more secure password policy and persistence mechanism.

 ** Console **

Several improvements have been made to the console. A new icon has been added to indicate the endpoints that are pending to reboot. Management of duplicate stations and stations with high volumes of historical information has been improved.

** TOOLS **

There have been several improvements in the tools used to generate process and file lists for the configuration of whitelisting protection.
